Fried pork with garlic

Khao Muu Tod Kratiem

Serves 2 Cooks in 30 minutes Difficulty Easy

Khao Muu Tod Kratiem or simply Fried Pork with Garlic is a super simple, quick Thai dish to throw together. It uses very few ingredients and can be a great accompaniment to other Thai dishes.

There is nothing spicy in Khao Muu Tod Kratiem so it’s an ideal Thai dish if you do not like spicy Thai food. It can be a simple snack to eat with drinks and it’s also very popular with children here in Thailand.

As this dish does not feature as part of my Khao Lak Thai cooking class I have included it here on my blog instead.

Ingredients

  • 300g pork, sliced
  • 3 coriander roots
  • 10 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp pork stock
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Method

  1. Smash the garlic and coriander roots in a pestle and mortar, then add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, pepper and stock.
  2. Add this mix to the pork and combine well. Then let the pork rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat a little oil in a wok and throw in the pork mix and sugar. Stir fry until the pork is cooked.

To Serve

This dish stands alone just fine but you could also top with coriander leaves and serve with a hard boiled egg, halved.
