Nam Jim

Serves 4 Cooks in 10 minutes Difficulty Easy

Nam Jim is the essential dipping sauce to accompany your Thai seafood dishes. It’s really simple to make and packs a delicious spicy taste.

In Thailand a seafood meal would not be complete without this chilli dipping sauce, hope you can try it at home using my Riverside Thai Cooking recipe.

Ingredients

  • 10 chillies (for a spicy taste)
  • 7 cloves of garlic
  • Juice from 2 limes
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp pork stock
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 coriander roots
  • Small handful of coriander leaves

Method

  1. Smash the garlic, coriander roots, chilli and sugar in a pestle and mortar (adding the sugar makes this easier stopping the other ingredients from flying out of the mortar).
  2. Add the stock, lime juice and fish sauce and mix well.
