Nam Jim Jaw
Serves 2 Cooks in 10 minutes Difficulty Easy
This is a really simple dipping sauce but it sure packs some flavour. It is typically served with grilled pork here in Khao Lak, Thailand.
The ingredients are simple though you may have to visit your local Asian super market for the sticky rice powder. If you can’t source long coriander leaves then you could use a few normal coriander leaves.
Even if you are not cooking a Thai meal, you could use this dipping sauce for a summer barbecue to add some Thai taste.
Preparation is really easy too, just mix everything together and you’re good to go.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp sticky rice powder
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 leaf long coriander roughly chopped
- 1 shallot finely chopped
- 1 tsp chicken stock
Method
- In a small bowl, mix together the fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, chilli powder, stock and shallot.
- Sprinkle the sticky rice powder and long coriander leaves on top of this mixture.
To Serve
Serve with grilled pork as a dipping sauce.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe, Apple. I like the idea of pork tenderloin kebabs with this sauce. What would you recommend as side dishes?
Hi Ann, here we have different dipping sauces for many different meats and seafood. This one is specifically for grilled pork when we make it but your idea of pork tenderloin kebabs sounds amazing. Would be great with some sticky rice, maybe Som Tam (I have a som tam recipe made with Apple) too.
