Stir Fried Beef with Fresh Pepper Corns

Stir fried beef

Nuea Pad Prik Thai Orn

Serves 2 Cooks in 10 minutes Difficulty Easy

This is a super easy Thai stir fry that tastes so good. I do not usually cook a lot with beef but this dish was recently requested by Marco. So during our Thai cooking class here in Khao Lak we made Nuea Pad Prik Thai Orn as we call this dish in Thai.

One of the great things about this stir fry is all the ingredients should be really easy to source from your local supermarket, no need to venture out to the Asian supermarket. I used beef tenderloin as it has some fat on the meat which I like.

Stir fried beef with fresh pepper corns would make a great lunch or simple Thai dinner or could be used as a dish in a larger Thai meal.

I really do hope you will try this at home, you wont believe such a great taste is so easy to cook.

  • 200g beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 sweet chilli, cut into 1cm long slices

  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp black pepper corns
  • 1 tbsp green pepper corns
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

Stir frying the beef

  1. Smash the black pepper corns with a pestle and mortar. Try to leave a few chunks, it doesn’t have to be smashed to a powder.
  2. Heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a wok and add the garlic. Fry until the garlic starts to smell good then add the beef. Stir fry for a minute or so depending how well cooked you like your beef.
  3. Add a little bit of water, the oyster sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar and stock. Give a good stir.
  4. Throw in the bell pepper, onion and sweet chilli and stir fry for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add the green pepper corns and spring onion, give everything a final good stir and remove from the heat.
